Five Non-GE Popcorn Varieties Debut
Made with "healthy oils" and natural ingredients, five varieties of non-GE popcorn are being added to the Kettle Brand, according to supplier Diamond Foods, Inc.
aple bacon, salt & fresh ground pepper, sea salt, sriracha and white cheddar comprise the line, which is free of trans fats, MSG and preservatives, the company claims.
Marc McCullagh, brand manager, tells Candy & Snack TODAY that Kettle Brand has long been committed to using non-GMO ingredients, allowing it to develop relationships with farmers that share its Natural Promise commitment.
"Since becoming the first Non-GMO Project verified chip in 2012, we’ve continued to take the extra step with popcorn to ensure third-party verification," he says. "For our seasonings, we used the same approach as we do with our potato chips, and we were able to build off those existing relationships to deliver our signature bold flavors on ready-to-eat popcorn."
The sea salt variety comes in four-ounce bags, while the other flavors pack in five-ounce bags. With a SRP of $3.69, they ship in six-ct cases.
