Consumer Demand Prompts M&M's Crispy Reboot
Being reintroduced in early 2015, M&M's Crispy are the most consumer requested line variant no longer on the market, according to Mars Chocolate North America.
First introduced in 1998 as a limited-edition item, the crispy-centered candies covered in milk chocolate are slightly larger than original M&M's and come in bright green bags.
Mars reports consumer demand for new textures has led to the establishment of a crispy-crunch segment within chocolate and this sector is anticipated to grown 1.8 times the rate of the overall segment and 1.7 times that of non-chocolate. In addition, the company reports the gains in these types of products are being driven by bite-sized formats.
The relaunched M&M's will come in 1.35-ounce single packs with a SRP range of $1.09 to $1.39, shipping 12 24-ct trays per case. They will also be available in 2.83-ounce sharing size packs with a SRP range of $1.69 to $1.99 that ship six 26-ct trays per case as well as 9.9-ounce laydown bags carrying a SRP range of $2.99 to $3.99 that ship in 12-ct cases.
