Hershey Hits Market With Chocolate-Covered Caramels
Hershey’s Caramels, bite-size soft caramel pieces enrobed in chocolate, are new from The Hershey Co.
The milk chocolate variety comes in 1.1-ounce single serve packs and 7.2-ounce standup bags. Dark chocolate-covered caramels are also available in the standup bag format.
Single serve packs have a SRP of $1.29 and ship six 12-ct display boxes per case, while standup bags have a SRP of $4.19 and come in eight-ct cases and 15-ct displays.
Draft Jelly Beans Move Into Bottles
Draft Beer flavor jelly beans from the Jelly Belly Candy Co. are now available in packs that resemble beer bottles.
The plastic bottles hold 1.5 ounces of OU-kosher certified jelly beans flavored to taste like a Hefeweizen ale, the company reports, adding the products are gelatin-, gluten, fat- and dairy-free.
Shipping two 24-ct display trays per case, Draft Beer jelly bean bottles have a $2.25 SRP.
Lady Stella Italian Cookies Reintroduced
Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. is re-releasing Lady Stella Italian cookie assortments under the Stella D’oro brand in response to consumer demand, the company reports.
The packs hold a five-cookie assortment of Mini Chocolate Margherite, Marble Cookie, Chocolate Sorrento, Mini Vanilla Margherite and Citrus Sorrento with icing and sprinkles.
The cookies come in 10-ounce standup bags with a SRP of $3.69. They ship in 12-ct cases.
Gluten Removed From Luna Bars; Chocolate Cupcake Variety Added
Clif Bar & Co. reports the entire Luna portfolio is now gluten free following a two-year reformulation process. Manager of Nutrition Strategy Tara Dellolacoino-Thies, RD, says: "The gluten-free ingredients in all our bars are sourced from our trusted farm suppliers." During the transition, the claim will be called out on-pack with a pink starburst.
The company is also launching Chocolate Cupcake Luna Bars. Featuring dark chocolate pieces and frosting, the company claims the items are made with 70 percent organic ingredients, are kosher certified and have less than 200 calories. In addition, each bar has 10g of protein, three to five grams of fiber and is free from genetically engineered ingredients, preservatives and artificial flavors.
The 1.69-ounce bars have a SRP of $1.39 and ship in 15-ct cases.
Halfpops Adds Two Flavors
Chipotle barbeque and caramel & sea salt varieties are being added to the Halfpops line of partially popped corn kernel snacks from Halfpops, LLC.
The caramel variety is made with brown sugar, sea salt, sweet cream and accented with all-natural caramel flavor, according to the company, while the chipotle item features the pepper as well as paprika, natural smoke powder, sea salt and other spices. In addition, Chipotle Barbeque is the first vegan product in the line, according to Halfpops.
The company reports the items are free of gluten, preservatives, corn syrup, hydrogenated oils and artificial flavors.
With 130 calories per serving and zero trans fat, the popcorn snacks come in two-ounce bags with a SRP of $1.49, shipping 16 per case. In addition, six-ounce packs are available with a $3.99 SRP that ship in 12-ct cases.
