Hershey Leveraging Brands In Snacks

Snack Mixes and Bites featuring The Hershey Co.’s most visible brands, including Payday and Reese’s, are being introduced.

Offering a “perfect balance of nuts and chocolate,” according to Brandy Woolford, associate manager global brand PR, the Snack Bite items come in 2.5-ounce packs and leverage the Payday, Hershey’s and Mr. Goodbar (a c-store exclusive) brands. Mixes contain pieces of the company’s namesake bars and Reese’s lines blended with peanuts and almonds, respectively, and mini pretzels.

With a SRP of $1.99, both lines ship six 10-ct cartons per case.


Abba-Zaba’s Go Sour

Annabelle Candy Co., Inc.’s first move into the sour market, Abba-Zaba’s Sour Taffy is launching this fall.

“Sour’s hot; so is taffy,” Craig Locke, director of sales, tells Candy & Snack TODAY. “This is our first venture into something like this, and it’s exciting.”

The items, which were developed to appeal to younger demographics, stain consumers’ tongues and will “move the old-time candy company” into modern territory, according to President Greg Gogol.

Line priced, the 1.8-ounce bars are available in strawberry and blue wild berry. They ship 24 per case.


Cups Mimic PB&J Experience

Megaload Peanut Butter & Jelly Cups, featuring strawberry and grape jelly centers enveloped in peanut butter, are new from ABS Marketing Group, LLC.

Company president Alan Skorski tells Candy & Snack TODAY the line was developed to capture the experience of eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

King size packs hold two cups, have a SRP range of $1.19 to $1.25 and ship 12, 12-ct trays per case.


Organic Coconut Chips Have Trending Flavors

Sweet-and-salty caramel, cacao and Chili Lime varieties, organic toasted Coconut Chips are new from Navitas Naturals.

The gluten-free, non-GMO items are a good source of fiber, antioxidants and minerals, the company claims.

Made without artificial flavors and colors and containing no added sugars, the caramel variety is seasoned with sea salt and low-glycemic-index coconut sugar, while the cocoa item blends organic cocoa, vanilla extract and coconut spices. Lemon and lime flavors blend with organic spices and sea salt in the Chili Lime product.

Reclosable two-ounce packs have a SRP of $3.49 and ship in 12-ct cases.
